Skincare Guide: Keeping It Simple Really Works

PURAMORIA OperationTeam

When it comes to skincare, many people think it has to be a lot of steps and bottles. But honestly, we think the key to effective skincare is making smart choices, not just using more and more products. It's all about the "less is more" mentality - sticking with it, being gentle with your skin, and really figuring out what it really needs. Think about it, it’s like building a house, lay the foundation first, take the rest slowly.

➖ Basic Three Steps: Don’t Underestimate These

PURAMORIA has always believed that, do these three things first, and the condition of your skin will improve significantly. Don’t rush to buy a bunch of bells and whistles, start simple.

1. Cleansing

It works to get rid of the day’s dirty stuff like makeup, grease, sunscreen and dust. To be honest, I’ve used facial cleansers that are super lather in the past, especially for oily skin, and always feel “squeaky” to clean up. As a result, the skin is getting drier and more prone to problems.
Now I’ve learned to be good and choose gentle, low-foaming or non-foaming cleansers. The face should feel refreshing after washing, but not tight — that feeling shows that you haven’t broken the skin’s natural barrier.

2. Moisturizing

This step is super important — it locks in moisture and helps repair the skin barrier. Don’t think that oily skin doesn’t need it. Many people with oily skin skip the post-cleansing step out of the misconception that it will make their skin less oily. However, this actually backfires and causes their skin to produce even more oil.

We know how important it is to keep your skin’s oil and water in balance. When you’re washing away extra oil, picking a lightweight cream or gel works—It hydrates your skin and keeps oil in check at the same time.

Friends with dry skin can choose a thicker cream, anyway, everyone has to use it, just find the one that suits them.

3. Sun Protection

It’s the best weapon against aging and sunburn. We can apply it every morning, and it’s as natural as brushing my teeth. If you spend a fortune on other skincare products without sun protection, it’s a waste of time.
Pick one you like, like a light lotion or mineral sunscreen. Keep using it, and you’ll thank yourself.

➕ Extra Step: Add or Subtract as Needed

If you have a specific problem, such as acne or pigmentation, add something specific. But remember, don’t add too much at once — In tests conducted by the PURAMORIA Skin Lab, someone tried it and the skin couldn’t stand it.

  • Serums: This is where the active ingredients are added. Brightening with vitamin C in the morning and retinol in the evening (but don’t use it every day, it’s easy for beginners to irritate). We suggest starting with one and not layering it up — if your skin is already fine, it’s okay to skip it occasionally.
  • Toner or Essence Water: This can extra hydrate or balance the skin. But to be honest, if you think there are too many steps, you can omit this step for now. We sometimes use essence to moisturize ourselves, and the effect is quite good.
  • Exfoliating: Use chemical exfoliant 1 to 3 times a week to make the skin smoother and shinier. But don’t do it every day. Excessive skin will be red, swollen and sensitive. If you are already using retinol, you may not need extra exfoliate.

Everyday Skincare Routines: Practical Real-Life Examples

In practice? Don’t be torn to perfection, find a rhythm that suits you.

🔹 Basic Version

Morning: Wash your face with water or gentle cleansing → Moisturize → Sunscreen
Evening: Cleanse → Moisturize

🔸 Want to Upgrade?

Morning: Cleanse → Toner → Moisturize → Sunscreen
Evening: Cleanse → Occasionally use retinol or other healing Serum (e.g., moisturizing type) → Moisturize

Skin is alive and changes, so pay more attention to its feedback. If you feel tight, red or uncomfortable, cut down on steps. Trust me, sticking to a simple routine is much better than trying a bunch of products.
"I used to have this messy routine with like, more than 5 steps. But now, it's way simpler, my skin's never looked better", we got much feedback like this from our research with PURAMORIA's skin test volunteers.

How about you? Try it, maybe you will fall in love with this ease.
